Educators
Jody Cohen Gordon, Grades K-3
Jody Cohen Gordon was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated from Youngstown State University (Y.S.U.) with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She successfully pursued a career in radio as New and Public Service Director, reporter, and disc jockey. Jody lived in Israel for two years, where she graduated from W.U.J.S. (World Union on Jewish Students), and then did voice work for Israeli computer and production companies. In 2003, Jody found her "Jewish nitch": teaching Hebrew and Judaic studies. She lives with her son, Garric, and husband, Marc.
Allison Gusdorff, Grades 4-5
Allison Gusdorff is returning for her fourth year as a teacher at Temple Gan Elohim. She is a native of Elkins Park, PA, and is a graduate of Arizona State University. She spent this past summer studying in Israel. Allison is looking forward to sharing her love of Judaism, Hebrew, and Israel with her students this school year.
Judy Klatch, Grades 6-7
Judy moved from St. Louis to Arizona in 1960 with her husband Herm—who passed away in 1999. They had a wonderful 41 year marriage and were blessed with three children, two daughters and one son; and four grandchildren—all boys. She has been fortunate to have been a member of two great congregations, Temple Beth Israel and Temple Chai, and is very excited to be joining her third here at Temple Gan Elohim. She has been a Religious School teacher for 21 years and has taught every grade but 6th and 8th. Judy believes that teaching Religious School is one of the most important contributions she can make and has taught both Hebrew and Judaica classes. She received her Jewish Educator Certification through the Phoenix Bureau of Jewish Education and participated in many classes and seminars specifically designed for Jewish Religious school teachers. Prior to her retirement, Judy was Administrator for several large medical practices. Judy enjoys reading, attending the theatre, and spending time with her family and friends.
Shlomet Alexander, Hebrew (grades 4-7)
Shlomet was born and raised in Israel and came to Arizona in 1990. For the last 17 years she has been teaching Hebrew and Jewish history. As an Israeli, her goals for the year are to bring to class her life experiences and help her students to establish a lifetime connection to our Jewish heritage tradition, by teaching them Hebrew, Jewish Holidays and Jewish History.
